Penstemon palmeri stands about 2 feet tall when not flowering, but come Summertime, the fragrant pink flower spikes can reach 6 feet tall, creating a RIDICULOUS show for gardeners and local hummingbirds. Try it on a hot, dry slope and remove the dead flowers to extend the flowering period.
